So, guys, I realize it's one of the last nice weekends of summer, and due to low preregistration, I have decided to cancel the class. As an alternative, I highly recommend checking out/donating to Chillin' & Grillin', the Audre Lorde Project's annual picnic! No worries, though -- I'm rescheduling this workshop during September/Virgo, when everyone is all about buckling down for some ~*serious study*~. So, watch out for this class again, this time, under the HARVEST MOON.
THE LITTLE CARDS: CANCELLED (FOR NOW)
A Tarot Class On the Minor Arcana
If you are a beginning-to-intermediate tarot reader, you probably know about the Major Arcana, or the "trumps." These are the heavyweight cards in the deck, the ones you're most likely to see in a movie about witches: The Lovers! The Devil! Death! The Sun, The Moon, and The Star!
But what about those other forty cards, the ones that make up the majority of the deck? These "little cards" are called the Minor Arcana, or the pips. They tell us about everyday life, and express complex emotions. Because let's face it, things are rarely black-and-white, total victory or total defeat. The little cards tell us about life's subtleties, and often reveal more than the big cards.
The class will be held on the full moon, Sunday, August 10th, from 2pm-5pm at Trans Central Station. This full moon will be in Aquarius, while the sun is in Leo, bringing together the perfect balance of heart and mind. We will discuss the meanings of the cards, talk about spreads, and practice readings for each other. And of course, there will be light refreshments.
This is a beginner-intermediate class. You should have some familiarity with tarot, but readers (or would-be readers) of all levels are welcome. We will be comparing three decks: the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, the Collective Tarot, and the Crowley-Harris Thoth deck. Feel free to bring any of these decks with you, or any deck you like. If you don't have a deck, we will have a few extras for you to use.
The class cost is sliding scale, $15-25, and has a cap of 12 students. To RSVP, please select from the following pre-paid options below. See you on the full moon!
About Bryn Kelly, Tarot Reader: Bryn has been reading tarot for twenty years, but really cut her teeth on reading for the public by working for the Psychic Reader's Network (of Miss Cleo "Call me now!" fame.) Since then, she has continued her practice, culminating with reading as part of Lisa Auerbach's "Age of Aquarius" public program at at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is also descended from a long line of Freemasons and Eastern Stars who practice some bizarro hick form of ceremonial magic she doesn't even understand.
